Engro Fertilisers awarded ‘National Finance Champion 2015’ trophy

Engro Fertilisers Limited on Thursday was awarded with the trophy and named as “National Finance Champion 2015” at grand finale National Finance Olympiad (NFO) 2015, organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) at a local hotel.

The first runner up is from Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited and Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited has been awarded as second runner up. The event provides a distinctive platform to finance professionals to exhibit their potential and celebrate their competence. The objectives of thrilling grand finale of NFO 2015 are to encourage participants to step up their knowledge and application of Accounting, Finance and Governance standards, facilitate networking and recognise finance talent.

The finale was attended by distinguished guests from renowned organisations included CEOs, CFOs, presidents, VPs and HR partners of reputable organisations. The mega grand finale was competed among six teams included Pakistan State Oil Company Limited, Engro Fertilisers Limited, Kot Addu Power Company Limited, CDC of Pakistan Limited, Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited and Haleeb Foods Limited.

Grand finale was divided into three phases. In the first phase, teams delivered their remarkable presentations; while in second phase, teams’ brain power was judged by direct questions/answers session and the third phase comprised Buzzer Round. The teams’ performances were evaluated by the jury members; Mujahid Eshai, FCA; Syed Masoud Ali Naqvi, FCA; and Fakir Syed Aijazuddin, FCA.

Chairman, Professional Accountants In Business (PAIB) Committee, ICAP, Khalilullah Shaikh in his opening remarks said the NFO idea had been conceived to entice the finance professionals in a truly innovative way towards continuing with their professional development.

He remarked that the competition, while fostering an environment where the finance fraternity strives to excel in comprehension and application of technical knowledge, also focused on building a knowledge-sharing culture across the industry and celebrating team work. He congratulated the winners of the competition and commented on their brilliant performance. Chief Financial Officer of Unilever Pakistan, Ali Tariq shared that he was glad to be a part of a competition that facilitated social networking and recognised finance talent in Pakistan. He thanked ICAP as well as the PAIB Committee for planning and successfully transforming the idea into reality.

Yacoob Suttar, President ICAP appreciated all competing teams and congratulated winners. He stated that ICAP was achieving new milestones through that distinguished platform. He commented that “We recognise the accomplishments of these professionals, who are consistently producing the best results for their organisations, while enhancing the productivity of the nation. Besides serving as the corporate leaders of the industry, they are also acting as seasoned regulators of the financial sector.”
